Syn Free Spiralized Seasoned Swede Fries - a perfect side dish for when you want to increase the speed foods on your plate.
If you haven’t yet invested in a vegetable spiralizer, then you really must. They are super useful to have and can make vegetables fun, even for those who are fussy when it comes to vegetables.
Also if you have a gluten free intolerance or are following a paleo diet, spiralized vegetables can really make your meals much more interesting, replacing the usual pasta etc with things like spiralized zucchini or butternut squash.
Fussy kids will be much more interested in trying vegetables when they are spiralized too. You would be amazed at the amount of vegetables kids will actually try when they are made into fun little spirals.
Next time you are planning on syn free chips for dinner. Why not spiralize a vegetable of choice instead. These Syn Free Spiralled Season Swede Fries are a great alternative to syn free chips.
What size blade you use is entirely up to you. I like to use the smallest blade for these Spiralized Seasoned Swede Fries, but you can also use the next blade up or even the ribbon blade. Just be aware that the cooking time may need to be adjusted slightly.
Seasoning is really important, so choose wisely. I add a mix of paprika, cumin and a little bit of onion powder which adds a lovely flavour
One thing that I do recommend, is a good quality vegetable spiralizer. There are so many different ones out there that you can buy.
While little hand held ones are convenient, they will only allow you to spiral stick shaped vegetables. If you invest in a good quality, counter top vegetable spiralizer, it will mean you can spiral different shaped vegetableS and fruit, making your meals much more appealing, while also increasing those speed foods.
I have a Paderno vegetable spiralizer, which is one of the best out there that you can buy. It is sturdy and the blades are good. Which means it can effortlessly spiral a swede (rutabaga) which is quite a hard vegetable.
Unfortunately the Paderno vegetable spiralizer is not available in the UK, but this Müeller Spiral-Pro Professional 4-Blade Spiralizer rates well on Amazon. Before purchasing any spiralizer, I recommend checking online reviews, as you will get a good idea of how well it rates before handing out any money for one.
Make it an item you use regularly too. If you are planning on pasta for dinner, half the amount of pasta you would normally have, and instead mix in some spiralized vegetables instead.
Serve these Spiralized Seasoned Swede Fries with some of this homemade low syn ketchup. Perfect as a side to a main meal, or just enjoy a plate of these on their own with a salad.

what a wonderful recipe! My child can't eat much paprika so can i minimum the amount of it ? How long will this dish last in the refrigerator?
Shevy (Slimming Eats) says
yes you totally can reduce the seasoning, in fact any combination of seasoning is really good on these. I'd say they will keep a couple of days in the fridge. Hope that helps 🙂
