Some bags of chips/crisps can be pretty high in calories. So how can you make your own low calorie version?
With one of these nifty little kitchen gadgets...

Microwave Vegetable/Potato Chip Maker
You may be asking what the hell is it?
Well it is a microwave Crisp Chip maker which makes low fat crisps in the microwave.
It comes with a nifty little potato slicer for slicing your potatoes.
The above picture is a 150g potato sliced up (skin left off). Which I felt was more than enough for a tasty low calorie snack.
Directions
Once you slice your potato (and I do recommend using a small size potato, as otherwise the slices will be to big for the tray). Lay the slices out on some kitchen paper or similar and add your seasoning. I used some sea salt for these ones, but you could try various other season mixes.
You can cook them dry just as they are, or add to a bowl, spray with a little low calorie spray and toss to coat.
Then place one potato slice in each individual space and you are ready to cook them in the microwave. I would say these take approx 6 minutes in total, but once you get to beyond 4 ½ mins, I would keep an eye on them. They will have started to turn a golden/brown colour when they are ready, like the below picture:
Once you take them out of the microwave, I recommend removing them from the holder straight away and placing them in your bowl to cool down, as otherwise they will stick together.
Here is my bowl of the completed low fat Microwave crisps:
and as you can see, that is a rather satisfying portion, for a small potato.
You can vary these up by adding some different seasonings. If you can get the popcorn seasonings, those are great for these.

I am with you on these - they look delish! and as a treat I think they are a great idea. I won't be synning mine either as I'll only have them occasionally and they are so much better for you than conventional crisps. We are having ginger prawn stir fry tonight as it looked so good on your pics!
(I can't wait for the tomato tart recipe to appear!) Thanks again for posting the link on iVillage. Hope you are doing ok over there :o)

There is a of debate circulating that it may be a misuse of free foods. As they would not be filling as say a Jacket Potato. However I am not synning them. I use one tiny potato. If you are using a whole bag of potatoes a night then I could understand it. But I doubt anyone would do that.
