About

I am a Brit living overseas in Canada with my husband and two children. I have tried many diets in the past (mainly Weight Watchers) and while I was successful at losing weight on Weight Watchers. I  found it was a hard diet to maintain in the long run and have gone from losing weight to gaining weight, to losing weight to gaining weight again.  Also, having a baby (my son) in between, which I might add is also not great for your waistline, well it wasn’t in my case anyway.

Of course Weight Watchers is a great diet and does work for a lot of people,  it just didn’t work for me,  as it is all to easy to use your allocated points on things you really shouldn’t .

Then after yet another gain of weight I had lost, I decided enough was enough and I was going to try and lose this extra baggage once and for all. But I knew I had to find a better diet plan that was suited to me.

That was the start of my discovery of the Slimming World diet. Not that I like to refer to it as such, and anyone following Slimming World will agree with me. It really does not feel like you are on a diet. However I did encounter a bit of a problem before I even got started on the plan. Which was the fact that they don’t hold any meetings in Canada (being a UK based company).  My only option was to join online and I knew I needed a bit more motivation than that.  That motivation I needed became the start of this blog . I thought it would be good to have somewhere I could record my thoughts, general ramblings and recipes and with that I  found I had a real passion for cooking (which is probably one of the reasons I became overweight in the first place). I have also found I  love the challenge of trying to convert my all time favorite meals into much more healthier versions, as well as creating brand new recipes and best of all I love sharing them with other people, so they get to enjoy them as much as I do.

Slimming Eats is exactly that. Yummy, delicious and filling meals that make you slim. I had lost 46lbs on Slimming World when I then fell pregnant with my daughter who was born April 2011. I was very pleased to keep weight gain to a minimum while pregnant and when she was born, my weight was pretty much back to my pre pregnancy weight, something I never managed to do when pregnant with my son, my weight rocketed with him. At present I am breastfeeding and while I am finding it hard to lose weight, the beauty of the Slimming World plan means I have not gained any weight either.

Below is a before and after pic of my journey so far:

If you are interested in trying Slimming World, then visit their site: Slimming World

these are the 100 calorie packs http://www.nabiscoworld.com/100caloriepacks/ – you will also see some in my weekly slimming world grocery blog posts. Herseys do some too, as well as some 100 calories bars. Any of the 100 calories packs are 5 syns, there are also some popcorn ones too.

I don’t think the Jennie-o sausages are that low in syns unfortunately, the walmart breakfast ones are the lowest I have found. But the ball park fat free franks are free :) or failing that you could buy some extra lean pork mince and make your own breakfast patties.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with and I will do my best to help you out. Also keep an eye on my weekly groceries post, as you might find some new things there too.

    Good luck!

I’m a somewhat unimaginative cook – I don’t create, merely follow recipes! I last dieted almost 20 years ago and lost 5 stones. A child, illness and weight inducing meds later I’m back. I found this website and have used some of your fantastic ideas….my daughter (14) keeps saying two things:

    1. This is dieting food?

    2. You’re a wonderful cook, Mum. I love this food.

    Thank you!

I joined SW online 2 weeks ago, and I love your website. It has given me new inspiration and lots of new dishes to try. I’m excited!!!

Hey just wanted to say thanks for this site!

I joined slimming world 2 weeks ago, and week one stayed the same, I was gutted as I’d been really good.

Anyone was mooching around the net and via the minimins site found you, the recipes really got me inspired.

I love cooking so like the search options to find things to try.

I recommended the site to the class this evening, and everyone seemed very intrigued ….. I lost 2 lob this week, so Thank you x

I’ve been doing Slimming World since April and have now lost 1 stone.  Want to lose at least another 3.  Like so many I was stuck in a rut with the meals I was cooking and so when a friend recommended Slimming Eats I was immediately interested.  I’ve now made 3 or 4 of the dishes and have loved them all.  At the moment I’m doing Green plan as I wanted a change because my loss had slowed a little.  Pleased that this week I’ve lost 1½ lbs after being stuck for 3 weeks.

I’ve recommended the site to other forum members so I’m sure you’ll soon have more fans.

    Many thanks

  • http://www.facebook.com/captainwukde Matthew Wilde

    I really love
your site, but the only down side is you have protected it so much, it’s a
right pain to copy the recipes out. I cannot copy and paste the
shopping lists. The only way I can print it out is to use the print button, for
example I’ve just printed a curry recipe out and got 9 pages, with the recipe
and ingredients were only on 1 of the pages.

    Anyway around this?

Hello,I am an American living in the UK and I too found Slimming World to be a better diet for my style of eating. I am now trying to get my husband started on it. He won’t attend meetings but if I’m cooking I can control what is on the table. This is a lovely blog and really good recipes.
I have heard Slimming World is trying to get a foothold in the US now. I wish them luck as I think it will change a lot of people’s perceptions of “diet”. Also if they will keep the cost of their meetings down compared to WW it will certainly help a lot of people in the present economy. Unfortunately, healthy food isn’t cheap and cheap food isn’t healthy.
    Thanks for you wonderful recipes!

    Hi,
Thanks so much for this site. I have lost 1st 2 pounds in two months with SW here in England and was starting to get board with the repeated meals (and no cakes) so thanks for keeping me on track. Hope you dont mind but I posted a link on our group facebook page to your site with a pic of the american breakfast so people know where I found it.

    Thanks again x

I just started my SW journey with a friend (week one!). I have 5 stones to lose, but am aiming for losing 4 at the moment. Having my 1st proper weigh in on Thursday, and I have been bewildrered over the amount you can cook and eat through the Extra Easy – your blog is a godsend to another amateur cook -  one can make it tasty without piling on the fats! Thanks and keep it up! x

    HI there,
I am a current SW member in the UK,I am about to move to Thunder Bay Canada at the end of next month and really want to keep this going. I would appreciate any advice you could give me to help me keep to this regime. Which products to buy that comply with the plan and how you get on with on line slimming world. I currently attend class every week and worry how I am going to keep myself motivated.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi there, All the generic foods you will find easily just as you can in the UK, except for lean bacon and a few other items which are hard to come by. If you look on my groceries tab you will see some of the things I buy and also there is a list over on the minimins forum which is being added to regularly by members. Once you get to Canada, if there is anything you are unsure of feel free to send me another message. Good Luck.

Hi!  I live in Texas.  After reading about Slimming World and reading your info here, I have decided to go and join a group in the morning that is not too far from me.  I have tried so many diets and continue to fail.  I hope this works for me.

I think you will love it Kathryn. It is really liberating to be able to eat freely rather than believe you have to starve yourself in order to be slim. Best of luck with it. I’ve been a member here in the UK for 8 years and I love it. x

you will love Slimming World, it really doesnt feel like a diet at all, it teaches you about healthy eating which you can stick to for life. Good luck!!!

  • Susan basset

We are doing the same thing in our home.  My husband wont attend the meetings but in 6 weeks he has lost 1.5 st.  compared to me only 6lb.  I am sure you will both benefit as we are. My OH cant believe he can eat so much and he is religiously counting his syns too.

Awesome site, great recipes and for a bloke that cooks, very easy to follow. Now I’ve seen what sort of food SW say I can eat I suppose I ought to go and join a group. Bit embarrassing for a “fat bloke” but gotta do something. Many thanks for giving me the push I needed. Here’s looking at ya with 15st 4lbs to get sorted. I will let you know what happens.
