Weekly Groceries 9

Earlier today I set the weekly challenge # 2 and in the meantime I have been grocery shopping for lots of super free goodies for the week, so thought I would do a post to show you what I bought. I popped to Costco to stock up on some things, I got a huge pack of different dried pastas, so that has gone into my pantry and will last ages. I also got a huge box of eggs, because we go through those quite quickly and then the rest of the stuff is in the pictures I will post.  We also went to our local grocery store to get a few other bits.

In the picture above, I got the following:

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Yellow Flesh Potatoes
  • blueberries
  • courgettes
  • mushrooms
  • organic bananas
  • broccolini
  • apples
  • red bartlett pears
  • dragonfruit
  • fennel
  • sweet onions
  • garlic
  • peaches
  • basil
  • asparagus
  • cucumber
  • mixed mini sweet peppers
  • grape tomatoes
  • mixed bag of salad (baby greens, baby spinach, arugula, mizuna, raddicchio
  • mayan squash heirloom squash
  • opo squash
  • manila mangoes (this are miles tastier than normal mangoes)

I am looking forward to trying the fennel, opo squash and mayan heirloom squash. I totally recommend googling the latter two if you haven’t come across them before. I have had dragonfruit before but not for years and years, so wanted to try one of those again (I can’t even remember what it tastes like).

Above is lamb shanks in gravy from Costco, some lean lamb mince, huge salmon fillet, which I will portion up and freeze, some frying steak, pomengranate tea (hibicus, rosehips, apples, raspberries and rooibos), a flan dish, bulgur wheat, kidney bean, black beans, 0& plain yoghurt, fat free cottage cheese, low fat Philadelphia, and a tub of lean sandwich meat (ham, turkey and beef) and a grinder of garlic pepper (can’t wait to try that out)

Also at the back is a double pack of Misto, they are fab oil spray containers which I got from Costco (you will find heaps of reviews to this online), you basically fill them up with olive oil and you can spray meats, veggies etc. Of course it will be syns but I love olive oil and with this it can easily be used sparingly, it works out at about 10 calories per 1 second spray, which is not too bad really. and of course it is pure oil, non of the extra things you get in the mass produced store bought spray oils. You can actually fill these up with any oil, vinegar or water, so they are really handy too.

You can buy the Misto sprayer from here:

Keep you eye out this week for some recipes using some of the super free I bought to try as part of my Weekly challenge # 2 – Super Free me
