While shopping today I bought some Fat Free Oatmeal mix. The mix makes 6 muffins which work out to 6.5 syns per muffin, But I decided to add some ingredients to make 9 muffins so I could get them to 5 syns per muffin.
Here is the mix I bought:
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Muffins
Slimming Eats Recipe
makes 9 muffins
Extra Easy – 5 syns per muffin
Green – 5 syns per muffin
Original – 5 syns per muffin
Instead of following the usual instructions of adding 1/2 cup of water and 1 egg. I used the following:
1/2 cup of fat free greek yoghurt
1/4 cup of water
2 tsp of Cinnamon
50g of stewed apple (cooked without sugar), allow to cool before adding (1 syn)
I added all the above ingredients to the muffin mixture and spooned into a muffin tray (9 muffins) and baked them in the oven at 200c or 400f for approx 15 mins until golden.
This was the result:
A delicious and low fat muffin. Even my 3 year old loved them.
I recommend trying to make your own low fat muffins with a similar muffin or cake mix you can find, most mixtures can be adapted using yoghurt or stewed fruit in place of oil or milk etc.
